St. Maurice School
St. Maurice School enrolls boys and girls in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, emphasizing academic excellence with a friendly and Christ-centered environment. This community of students, teachers and parents shares a commitment to our Catholic faith and to te intellectual, spiritual and creative development of every student.
Caring and Certified Teachers
Our faculty includes lay teachers as well as the Sisters of Mercy, who founded St. Maurice School in 1953. Our certified teachers are creative and experienced, and work hard to make classes fascinating and fun. Our faculty includes winners of the Golden Apple, the Diocese of Pittsburgh's highest teaching award. St. Maurice School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges and the National Catholic Education Association.
Active and Accomplished Students
St. Maurice students regularly score above the Diocesan and national averages in Reading and Math. Our curriculum includes Language Arts, Science, Math, Social Sciences, Foreign Languages, Fine Arts, Technology and Religion.
Our students are also active on the athletic field, on stage, and in community service, with opportunities to participate in the performing and visual arts, including violin, band, choir and the annual Shakespeare production. The Forensics Team and Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science participants capture top honors on a regular basis. St. Maurice athletics include after-school intramurals such as volleybally and field hockey. We also offer corss-county and Diocesan League basketball and volleyball.
Helpful Information
Through various local and governmental programs, St. Maurice provides support for gifted students as well as remedial learning programs, health services, speech therapy and a subsidized lunch program. Financial aid is available through such programs as the Diocesan Scholastic Opportunity (SOS) program and the Bishop's Education Fund.
Christian Family Movement
The Christian Family Movement is a national program that supports busy families by providing opportunities for fellowship, discussion, prayer and action. You and your family are invited to join the St. Maurice chapter, which meets regularly in the Parish Center. Babysitting is provided! Contact the Director of Adult Education for more information.
Religious Education/CCD
The Religious Education/CCD program provides religious education, faith formation and sacramental preparation for children in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade who attend public and non-parochial schools. Classes are held on Sunday mornings from mid-September to the beginning of May.
Vocations
St. Maurice Parish provides support and help with discernment for those who are considering a call to religious life. Please contact the Pastor.
Wedding Committee
The Wedding Committee assists brides and grooms with logistics, rehearsals and other aspects of planning a wedding at St. Maurice. Spiritual preparation for marriage is provided through the Pre-Cana program.
Donut Sunday
One Sunday a month, Parishioners meet after the morning Masses for cofee, donuts and casual conversation in Centurion Hall. Everyone is welcome.
Church Decoration
During periods of religious observance, such as Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter, Parishioners volunteer to help decorate the Sanctuary, giving glory to God and added meaning to these holy occasions. Volunteers are welcome. More ways in which you can help St. Maurice Parish. Learn More>>
